Arrival. The Südbahn Station (Pl. B, C, 2) lies to the N. of the town,
½ M. from the Piazza della Borsa (Pl. C, A). Hotel Omnibuses 80 h.-1 K.;
Cab 1, with two horses 1 ½ K. (from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. 1 K. 60 or 2 K. 40 h.);
from the town to the station 80 h. or 1 K.; trunk 40 h. The Sant' Andrea
Station (Pl. B, 7) of the Trieste, Herpelje, and Pola Railway lies to the S.
of the town (junction-line between the stations for goods traffic only). --

by the Vicolo Santa Chiara), with good view from the garden. — Osterie
in the Italian style: Bissaldi, on the Canal Grande; Bonavia, at the back
of the Municipio (Pl. C, 4), etc. — The Sardone,Branzino,Tonina, and
Barbone are good sea-fish. Prosecco is a half-effervescing wine like Asti;
Refosco, a dark sweet wine, also effervescing; the ordinary wines are
Terrano and Istriano, usually drunk with water.

the Via Conti (Pl. E, 4), 25 min.; from the Barriera Vecchia (Pl. E, 4, 5)
to the Piazza Carlo Goldoni (Pl. D, 4), 20 minutes. The chief sections
for visitors are from the Südbahn Station, along the harbour, to the Sant'
Andrea Station, 20 min., 20 h.; from the Piazza della Borsa (Pl. C, 4) to
the Lloyd Wharf, ¼ hr., 20 h.; from the Lloyd Wharf to Servola, 10 min.,
10 h.; from the Piazza della Borsa to the Boschetto, 20 min., 20 h. — From
the Piazza della Caserma (Pl. C, D, 3) a tramway ascends to (½ hr.) Občina
(p. 207), every 18 min.; fare up 1 K., down 60 h.
Steamboats to Muggia, Capodistria, and Pirano several times daily;
small steamers to Parenzo, Rovigno, and Pola daily. Steamboats of the
Austrian Lloyd to Venice thrice, to Pola eight times weekly; to Greece,
Constantinople, and the Levant once weekly. Steamers of the Hungarian-
Croatian Co. to Fiume and Dalmatia, once weekly; etc.
